William and Kate’s Twitter account shared a picture showing Indian takeaway snacks on silver plates, a food menu, a pint of beer, a Heads Up mug and a microphone. Teasing an upcoming announcement, the caption said: “Coming soon…”

The takeaway food includes chicken, samosas and a pot of mango chutney, which could be William’s favourite Indian snacks.

Commenting on the post, one royal fan said: “I am focused on the yummy looking snacks. Is that wrong?”

Another wrote: “I just love the takeaway food on the silver platters good to see you’re maintaining standards.”

A third commented: “Samosas, Chicken Curry, Pot of Mango Chutney, Pint of Bitter. I’m in.”

Another added: “Ohh a surprise is coming our way!! I can’t wait to find out more about it.”

The Heads Up mug suggests the announcement could be related to William’s initiative to change the conversation on mental health through football.

The Twitter post comes after the royal, who is president of the Football Association, held a video call with football stars including former England captain David Beckham.

William has launched a declaration – signed by governing bodies, leagues and organisations from across UK football – to create a “mentally healthy culture” in the sport.

Speaking during the video call, Beckham opened up about the “brutal” reaction he faced following his 1998 World Cup sending off.

England were knocked out of the tournament by Argentina following his red card for kicking out at an opponent.

He said: “I made a mistake you know, I made a mistake in ’98 and the reaction at the time was pretty brutal.

“I was constantly criticised on the pitch verbally. Like I said at the start of this, times have changed.

“If social media was around when I was going through that time in ’98, it would have been a whole different story.

“But I was lucky. I had a support system in Manchester United and the manager and obviously family, but did I feel at the time it was OK to (go to) someone and say ‘I need help’?

“I would say no, no, it was a different era and I just felt I had to keep it all in and deal with it myself.”

The video call held earlier this month was made in support of William’s Heads Up initiative.

Speaking about the declaration, William said: “I’m delighted to announce that today the entire football system across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, has united around a common goal, to develop a mentally healthy culture across the game by signing a landmark mentally healthy football declaration.

“Football is a team sport, for the first time, there is a collective game plan to make mental health, the top part in the game.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been spending the coronavirus lockdown at Anmer Hall in Norfolk with their three children.

They have been keeping busy carrying out their royal duties via video calls and have recently started stepping out for face-to-face engagements again as restrictions have eased.
