After coroanvirus restrictions were relaxed in the UK in July, both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have moved into a higher gear with their public engagements. Prince William in particular is set to be joining big celebrities such as Chris Hemsworth and Don Cheadle on a new project. Royally Obsessed podcast hosts Roberta Fiorito and Rachel Bowie discussed the future king’s “amazing” event.

Coming up on October 10, Prince William will be speaking at the first ever free TED Talk conference.

It’s an event called ‘Countdown’ which will be fully open to the public and entirely dedicated to a conversation about climate change.

Ms Bowie told listeners: “I’m so excited because there’s also such an amazing line-up of speakers that the Duke of Cambridge joins.

“Al Gore, Chris Hemsworth, Don Cheadle and Mark Ruffalo will be there to name a few.”

Ms Fiorito added: “The royal calendar is definitely picking up steam which is so exciting.

“I just love seeing more Kate and William back in it too because they kind of took a pause in August for a vacation, as they should.

“They’ve really hit the ground running it seems.”

Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED) talks are conferences where world leaders come together to discuss topics from science to business to global issues.

Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, has also been busy with the publication of her lockdown photography submissions.

A final 100 images were selected for a digital exhibition by the National Portrait Gallery and the Duchess, who is their patron.

The photography project was focused on three core themes – Helpers and Heroes, Your New Normal, and Acts of Kindness.

Prince William’s climate change TED Talk may have been inspired by his elder relations.

Both Prince Charles and Prince Philip have campaigned for environmental causes and against the illegal trade in wildlife around the world.

William has talked about how he is hoping to build on their work through the conference and through initiatives like the Earthshot Prize.

The Earthshot Prize will be awarded to five people every year over the next decade, and aims to provide at least 50 answers to some of the greatest problems facing the planet by 2030.

The Duke of Cambridge’s endeavour to encourage new solutions to tackling the climate crisis was described by Sir David Attenborough as “the most prestigious environment prize in history”.
