Frances from London called into Channel 5’s Jeremy Vine programme to discuss Prince William’s response to being asked if he had spoken to Prince Harry. The caller stated that the Duke of Cambridge’s comments took the attention away from the importance of his royal engagement at School 21 in Stratford.

Frances said: “They went for an official visit, that actual reason for the visit was lost in translation, we are talking about mental health and wellbeing of children in a school that the headteachers were really excited about.

“We are talking about a school that is in a disadvantaged area so we are looking at supporting children that are probably less privileged than a lot of us in this country.

“Instead of bringing it back to what the visit should have been about, William got caught up in an emotional rant.”

Mr Vine replied: “It was not a rant, come on.”

The caller added: “Ok, but in the end, I know the question was fueling and his response was triggered.”

On Thursday, the Duke of Cambridge addressed his relationship with Prince Harry.

When asked if he had spoken to his brother since the Oprah Winfrey interview, he said: “I have not spoken to him yet but I will do.”

Prince William added regarding allegations of racism with the monarchy: “We are very much not a racist family.”

On Friday morning, ITV’s Royal Editor Chris Ship stated that William and Harry have not spoken since the Duke of Sussex quit his position as a working member of the Royal Family in 2020.

He told ITV’s Good Morning Britain that the divide between the princes appears to be deeper than believed as their communication has drastically reduced since the Duke of Sussex left the monarchy.

Good Morning Britain’s Ben Shephard said regarding Prince William: “He was also asked has he spoken to Harry and he said ‘no not yet but I will’ and that seemed to be quite telling.

“There is still this distance between them geographically, of course, but also this distance as the first thing he did was not to pick up the phone and say ‘we have got to talk about this’.”

Mr Ship said: “There is a huge distance I would say, for example, I know that the two brothers have not actually spoken directly for the best part of a year.

“Actually what the documentary has done because it has been that big, is started some movement as it was described to me.

“No more than that, but some movement between the two brothers, I do not know what that is, it could be some messaging between them.

“It could be that their two private offices are talking and arranging an interview, this is how distant they have become.”
