On Thursday, a set of pictures were released on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s official Twitter account marking what Prince William has been up to since arriving in the United Arab Emirates ahead of the UK National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai.
For the first stop on the Duke’s itinerary, William visited the Jubail Mangroves, a nature preserve and a haven for avian and marine species native to Abu Dhabi.
Kensington Palace shared a series of pictures of the Duke of Cambridge during the solo trip that sparked worry from some royal fans who claimed he looked uncomfortable.
Reacting to the pictures on Twitter, one wrote: “William doesn’t look at ease, like at all.”
Another chimed in: “His jaw gives it away.”
While a third joked: “Yeah, that part of the work sucks.”
The park is the first self-contained educational, nature and leisure destination of its kind in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The Duke is learning more about the work of the Mangrove Initiative, which will focus on sustainability and preserving the natural environment.
It will also provide vital research for supporting biodiversity – including the development of more resilient varieties of the mangrove, which will in turn help protect the coastline.
