William, 39, and Harry, 37, have not met since they unveiled the statue of their late mother Princess Diana in July. The Duke of Cambridge and Duke of Sussex had a private chat after the ceremony for the sculpture of Diana on what would have been the Princess of Wales’ 60th birthday. It was the first time the brothers had met since the funeral of their grandfather, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh in April.

Last month, William attended a private reception at Kensington Palace – Diana’s former home – to thank donors who helped fund the statue.

Harry did not make the trip over for the event from California, where he lives with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to the US last year after stepping backing as senior royals.

The Queen confirmed in February of this year that the couple’s exit from the Royal Family was final, and they would not return as working members of the Firm.

The Sussexes left the UK amid reports that William and Harry’s relationship had crashed to an all-time low.

Harry addressed the claims of a brotherly rift during his and Meghan’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, broadcast on CBS and ITV in March.

In the explosive two-hour sit-down chat, Harry said he and William were on “different paths” but that he loved his brother “to bits”.

Body language expert Blanca Cobb claimed to Express.co.uk that Harry tried to reach out to William at the statue unveiling, but that William “was not reciprocating”.

She claimed: “It’d be interesting moving forward if there are other opportunities where they’re out in public, and the media is around and can capture videos or photos to see how the body language has changed.

“Whether there’s some camaraderie there that would let us know that there’s some healing or whether it’s still the same.

“But Harry made the attempt and William was not reciprocating in July.”

Pictures of the unveiling show Harry and William pulling the sheet off the statue in the gardens of Kensington Palace, their childhood home.

The small event also included members of Diana’s family: her brother Charles, 9th Earl Spencer, and her sisters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Jane Fellowes, Baroness Fellowes.

Ms Cobb analysed some of the images from the ceremony during which Harry could be seen trying to talk to William.

She claimed: “The one thing that will be interesting moving forward, depending on how much interaction Harry and William have in public, is to see any mending of the fences, so to speak, or mending their relationship.

“Because when they were together at the unveiling of their mother’s statue, Harry made a lot of nonverbal attempts to reconnect to his brother and William wasn’t having it.”

Harry also used the Oprah interview to express sympathy for his brother and his father, Prince Charles.

He said that, while he had left some of the pressures of being a royal behind, the two of them were “trapped” in their roles as first and second in line to the throne.

Harry told Oprah that his brother and father “don’t get to leave” and that he has “compassion for that”.

Speaking about William at the statue unveiling, Ms Cobb added: “He still had his whole body facing the statue.

“And you turn towards someone that you like, or someone that you want to talk to, someone who has grabbed your interest.

“But it wasn’t being reciprocated and when it’s not reciprocated, there’s an issue there.

“I believe that it was still all from the Oprah interview and probably some other things that we’re not privy to, dynamics in the relationship.

“Judging off the body language in July at the unveiling of their mother’s statue, absolutely.”
