Rumours surrounding a possible trip to the Big Apple by the Duke of Cambridge have been confirmed today. Prince William will attend The Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit on September 2022, an event aiming to drive impact around solutions focused on tackling climate change and amplify the Earthshot Prize’s mission.

Sharing the news related to this brief trip to New York by the second-in-line to the throne, the Daily Express royal correspondent, Richard Palmer, tweeted: “Prince William is to address a summit of heads of state, global business leaders, philanthropists and environmentalists in New York on September 21 to discuss ways of accelerating action on climate change.

“There had been discussions about him attending The Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit and he finally decided yesterday that he is going.”

Mr Palmer added the Duke will focus his attention also on other events while in New York.

He wrote: “He is expected to spend two or three days in the Big Apple at events encouraging innovation to tackle climate change.”

William will attend the summit alongside Michael R. Bloomberg, who has committed to help scale and replicate the most successful solutions against the most pressing issues faced by the planet presented at the Earthshot Prize.

Mr Bloomberg is the global advisor to the winners of the Earthshot Prize which, launched in October 2020, is set to name five winners a year until 2030.

During the summit, Mr Bloomberg and William will also celebrate the finalists and winners of the first-ever Earthshot Prize award ceremony held in October 2021 in London.
