Former royal chef Darren McGrady has revealed Prince William and Prince Harry would often go on “secret trips” to McDonald’s when they were children. Mr McGrady said their late mother, Princess Diana would take the boys out of Kensington Palace to visit the fast-food chain. The former chef to the Royals said that although he would prepare burgers and fries for William and Harry, they would always prefer to take trips to the restaurant with their mother – for one reason.
Despite having access to the best chefs around, Princess Diana would regularly opt for the fast-food option with her sons – because they loved the toys.
In a Q&A on his YouTube channel, Mr McGrady said: “William and Harry loved fast food.
“They loved McDonald’s when they were small. But, I’m told it’s because of the toys and not the burgers.”
Mr McGrady told Marie Claire: “I remember the Princess came into the kitchen one day and said, ‘Cancel lunch for the boys I’m taking them out, we’re going to McDonald’s.

He added: “The boys loved McDonald’s, and going out for pizza, and having potato skins – sort of the American foods. They were royal princes but had children’s palates.”
Their visit became a more regular occurrence, with Princess Diana’s former butler and close friend Paul Burrell explained that it was a normal part of their Saturday night routine.
Prince Harry, Prince William and Princess Diana would often order the classic Big Mac and chips for their dinner.

Princess Diana reportedly wanted to keep her sons’ upbringing as normal as possible by dong typical childhood activities.
She even took Prince William and Prince Harry to theme parks as children.
