Prince William and Prince Harry’s royal rift has been dismissed by one of Princess Diana’s former friends, who said the argument has been “overly dramatised”. Royal expert Stewart Pearce said that whilst there had clearly been a form of disagreement, both brothers looked “relaxed” during the unveiling of Diana’s new statue.
Mr Pearce said their join appearance “dispelled any of the brouhahas over the fact there’s a rift, which as you know, I don’t believe there was a rift.”
Speaking to US Weekly’s Royally Us podcast, he said: “I think there was a slight disagreement but I mean, who doesn’t disagree with his brother?
“It’s been blown out of complete proportion, it’s been overly dramatised.
“The fact that they there looking so relaxed…I thought they looked really good.”
Prince William and Prince Harry have had a difficult relationship since the autumn of 2018.
According to royal reports, the initial argument came after Prince William confronted his brother over claims of bullying made against Meghan Markle by Palace staff.
Following this, the brothers separated their royal households and Harry and Meghan left Kensington Palace for Frogmore Cottage.
They also established their own charitable foundation, Sussex Royal.

During their tell-all interview with Oprah, Prince Harry said there had been a shift in relations following the couple’s South Pacific tour in 2018, implying that it was jealousy that had prompted the rift.
Their relationship worsened after Harry and Meghan decided to step away from the Royal Family and relocated to North America.
When speaking to Oprah, the Duke of Sussex characterised their relationship as “space” and said they were “on different paths”.
He also said that both his brother and father were “trapped” within the royal institution.

Whilst the brothers had previously reunited for the funeral of Prince Philip in April, reconciliatory talks between the pair were reportedly unproductive.
On July 1 however, they put any differences aside for the unveiling ceremony of a new statue that they commissioned in 2017 to honour what would have been Diana’s 60th birthday.
The statue was designed by British sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley and was placed in the Sunken Garden of Kensington Palace.
Both Princes were joined by members of the Spencer family, including Diana’s younger brother, the Earl Spencer.
