The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be celebrating their 10-year wedding anniversary next week, a stunning milestone for the future King and Queen. The royal couple met while they were at the University of St Andrews in the early 2000s and were in the same halls. They were friends for over a year before a romance developed between them.

Willam and Kate then dated for eight years before they finally got engaged in October 2010.

In their engagement interview the following month, the pair recalled their early relationship, explaining that they connected due to their sense of humour.

William said: “We were friends for over a year first and it just sort of blossomed from then on.l

“We just spent more time with each other, had a good giggle.

“She’s got a really naughty sense of humour, which kind of helps me because I’ve got a really dirty sense of humour.”

William and Kate have this in common with the Queen and Prince Philip, whose relationship was so special because they made each other laugh.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral was on Saturday, attended by both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

William walked in the procession behind the coffin next to his cousin Peter Phillips, who had Prince Harry on his other side.

After the service, William, Kate and Harry all had a chat, the first face-to-face conversation they have had in over a year.

The Duke of Sussex is set to rush back to the US soon, however, as his wife Meghan Markle is pregnant with their second child.

Demonstrating his cheeky sense of humour, William teased Kate in their engagement interview about claims she had a poster of him on her wall when she was younger.

When the interviewer, Tom Bradby, asked Kate whether the reports were true, William butted in, joking: “There wasn’t just one, there was about 20.”

Kate laughed and said: “He wishes! No, I had the Levi’s guy on my wall, not a picture of William, sorry.”

William quipped: “It was me in Levi’s, obviously.”

The couple also opened up about their temporary break-up back in 2007.

William explained that they had both been very young and were “finding ourselves” and “growing up”.

He said that after “a bit of space”, they got back together and things were better.

Kate said: “At the time I wasn’t very happy about it, but actually it made me a stronger person.

“You find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn’t realised.

“You can get quite consumed by a relationship when you are younger and I really valued that time for me as well….although I didn’t think it at the time.”

The couple now have three children: Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, who turns three this week.

It is also the Queen’s birthday this week ‒ she is turning 95 ‒ but it is likely to be a subdued affair given her recent loss.
