Prince Philip's coffin to be reburied side by side with the Queen's
Prince Philip’s body will be moved to lie beside the Queen’s following her state funeral.
Details of burial arrangements for the couple were disclosed after the Duke of Edinburgh’s death in April 2021.
A plan was put in place for the pair to eventually be placed side by side in the event of the Queen’s own death.
Where was Prince Philip buried?
When Philip died aged 99, his coffin was first placed in St George’s Chapel, within Windsor Castle’s grounds, where he lay in rest for family and invited guests to pay their respects.
As per his wishes, his funeral was a low-key affair and he rejected any proposals when he was alive that it should bear the hallmarks of a state funeral.
After the ceremony his body was taken to the Royal Vault within the chapel and interred until the Queen’s death.
