Prince Philip health: Prince Charles tells Royal fans Philip is feeling ‘much better’
Prince Philip, who spent four nights in hospital before Christmas, did not attend the service in Sandringham, apparently choosing to stay warm inside. He has now not been seen at the 16th century St Mary Magdalene Church for more than a year. The Queen, 93, looked radiant in a bright primrose yellow coat and matching hat. She was driven to the service with Prince Edward’s wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
Charles, 71, was in good spirits as he walked the 400 yards from Sandringham House with sister Princess Anne.
He exchanged greetings with the crowd of around 1,500 people, wishing several “Good morning”.
Asked how his 98-year-old father was feeling, he grinned and replied: “Much better.”
The pair were followed by Prince Edward, his daughter Lady Louise Windsor, 16, and Anne’s husband Sir Tim Laurence.
Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, is thought to have left Sandringham soon after Christmas to have a late festive celebration with her children and grandchildren, as she does every year.
There was no sign of Prince Andrew, who stepped down from public duties last month over the scandal of his friendship with paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
A source suggested he left early on Friday after joining the Royal Family’s traditional shoot on Boxing Day.
