Prince Louis’s three-word comment shows his close bond with Grandpa King Charles

Prince Louis joins William, Kate, George and Charlotte to volunteer in Slough

Prince Louis demonstrated his close relationship with his grandfather King Charles while volunteering with his older siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte in Slough last Bank Holiday Monday. The children joined their parents to help renovate a scout hut in Slough as part of the Big Help Out, with Louis making a funny comment when he got white paint in his hair as he helped to repaint an outdoor planter.

Upon noticing the paint in his hair he quipped he had white hair now, “just like Grandpa!”

Once she noticed the splash of white, Charlotte told her brother: “You’ve got paint in your hair! Louis, look at me! Look at me!”

The three Wales children were helping to renovate the 3rd Upton Scouts Hut in Slough alongside Prince William and Kate, Princess of Wales on the third day of Coronation celebrations last week.

The Big Help Out was created to encourage people to spare a little time in their community helping out local causes and organisations.

In Slough the royals helped out with resetting a path, digging a new soakaway, sanding and revarnishing the front door, adding planters to the front of the building and adding a mural to create a lasting legacy of the Big Help Out’s work.

Louis was pictured sitting on William’s lap to help operate a digger, moving the mechanical arm to grab a bucket full of soil before dumping it on a spoil heap.

Initially he saw big brother George helping out on the digger and told Kate: “I want to go in with him!”

Following the day’s hard work the children were rewarded with s’mores, with Louis appearing to roll his head back with joy when he took his first bite.

Louis’s charm and joviality reportedly brought a smile to the King’s face during the stressful week leading up to the Coronation as the family were expected to attend rehearsals at Westminster Abbey.

According to sources once Charles spotted his young grandson his mood instantly brightened.

They said: “It was a long day and everyone was getting a little tired and stressed. Even the King began to look a little worn down. He was sitting on the throne looking glum.

“Then suddenly he looked to the side and saw Prince Louis standing beside him. His eyes lit up and he said, ‘Hello, Louis. I didn’t see you there.’

“You could see how much he adored the little boy. He put an arm around him and began showing him all the regalia.

“He explained everything to him and pointed out the different gems. In that snapshot the two of them seemed completely entranced. It was lovely to watch.”

The little prince once again entertained royal fans as the family gathered on the Buckingham Palace balcony after the Coronation ceremony, as he pulled faces and banged his hands on the balcony.
