Rumours have circulated about the reason behind Prince Harry and Prince William’s rift in recent years, and an upcoming book, Finding Freedom, attempts to offer a unique insight. The book, written by journalists Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, focuses on Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to step down as senior members of the Royal Family, as well as looking into the reported fallouts they had with Harry’s family. When the book was announced in May, it appeared to be the first one in which the couple had cooperated with the intention of refuting their critics.E

However, a representative for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex claimed otherwise more than two months later.

An excerpt from the book published by The Sunday Times claims that Harry and William grew apart following the future King’s alleged concerns about his brother’s relationship with Meghan.

Moreover, the authors claim the Duchess felt Kate did not reach out to her and that so few inside the palace were looking out for her interests.

As royal fans are saddened by the alleged rift, a 2018 report has resurfaced, which sheds some light on how Meghan spent her first Christmas with the Royal Family at Sandringham.

According to the Sunday Express, the former Suits actress had been advised by her husband to play down her skills during the festive season.

Aides had told the publication that Queen likes to give her own royal command performance on Christmas night, when she reels off her impersonations of world leaders, VIPs and stars she has met during her travels.

Harry was reportedly desperate to make Christmas at Sandringham perfect and had a guide of the dos and don’ts to ease Meghan into the family traditions.

One aide was quoted as saying: “It can be very confusing.

“The jokes and presents are very cheesy, life is grand.

“The protocol is unbending and it terrifies the life out of incomers.

“They don’t like show-offs, especially newcomers who show off.

“The Duchess has to resist that American urge to win at everything.

“The whole family likes to play charades on Christmas night and she must never beat the Queen, who is a fine actress herself.”

Harry had also reportedly cautioned Meghan not to speak out against the Royal Family’s traditional Boxing Day pheasant shoot.

According to a report by The Sun, Kate and Meghan ended up putting“their differences to one side” and there was no sign of tension at the Queen’s Sandringham retreat.

An insider claimed the two even amicably teamed-up during traditional quiz games.

The source said: “If German and British troops could put their differences to one side to play football during World War One, the feeling was Kate and Meghan could follow suit for Scrabble.

“After watching the Queen’s speech, the board games were brought out and both women got stuck in.

“Pregnant Meghan wasn’t drinking but Kate had a glass of wine or two, and everyone was in great spirits.

“It was a wonderful day and night.”

Intense speculation of a rift between Meghan and Kate started when the former Suits actress and Harry announced plans to move to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor two years ago.
