Prince Harry announced to the world he is writing an “intimate and heartfelt memoir”. A statement shared on Archewell.com said the book will “cover his lifetime in the public eye from childhood to the present day, including his dedication to service, the military duty that twice took him to the frontlines of Afghanistan and the joy he has found in being a husband and father”.

Now royal biographer Angela Levin has claimed to have been given an insight into what the book could feature.

She wrote on Twitter: “I’ve been told by a well-informed source that Harry’s memoir will focus heavily on the death of his mother Princess Diana, and who he blames.”

Express.co.uk has contacted representatives of the Duke of Sussex for comment.

Princess Diana died in a car crash in Paris in August 1997 while being chased by paparazzi.

Harry recently touched upon the death of his mother.

In May, he issued a statement after the Lord Dyson report stated former BBC reporter Martin Bashir used deceitful means to gain access for his Panorama interview with Princess Diana in 1995.

In it, he said: “The ripple effect of culture of exploitation and unethical practices ultimately took her life.”

He continued: “To those who have taken some form of accountability, thank you for owning it.

“That is the first step towards justice and truth.

“Yet what deeply concerns me is that practices like these — and even worse — are still widespread today. Then, and now, it’s bigger than one outlet, one network, or one publication.

“Our mother lost her life because of this, and nothing has changed.”

Harry also discussed the long-lasting impact losing his mum when he was only 12 has had on his life.

In conversation with Oprah Winfrey in the mental health docu-series they co-created – The Me You Can’t See – Harry said he became willing to drink and take drugs to cope with the loss.

He said: “I was willing to drink, I was willing to take drugs, I was willing to try and do the things that made me feel less like I was feeling.

“But I slowly became aware that, okay, I wasn’t drinking Monday to Friday, but I would probably drink a week’s worth in one day on a Friday or a Saturday night.

“And I would find myself drinking, not because I was enjoying it but because I was trying to mask something.”

Harry also opened up about the “huge hole inside” of him left by the death of the Princess of Wales in a moving foreword for a book, Hospital by the Hill, being released to support children and young people whose loved ones have died from COVID-19.

He said: “I know how you feel, and I want to assure you that over time that hole will be filled with so much love and support.”

In the foreword, Harry also recalled how he was told that when a parent dies “their spirit, their love and the memories of them do not.”

He added: “They are always with you and you can hold onto them forever.”

Harry shared news of his memoir on Monday.

He said: “I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become.

“I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story — the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned — I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.

“I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a firsthand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful.”
