The Duke and Duchess of Sussex sent shockwaves through the Royal Family during an explosive interview with chat sow host Oprah Winfrey last month. This saw the couple, who now live with their young son Archie Harrison in the US, claim Meghan had not received any support from the monarchy in her mental health struggles. Harry and Meghan also accused an unnamed royal – not the Queen or Prince Philip – of raising concerns about how dark their son Archie’s skin tone would be before he was born in May 2019.
Just days later, William strongly denied the accusation, saying when questioned by a journalist: “We’re very much not a racist family.”
But the accusations will have only further divided the two royal brothers, with Harry saying they are both on “different paths”.
Royal Family enthusiast and Conservative Party MP Andrew Rosindell described the rift between Harry and his family as one of “great sadness”.
But he warned the UK has “moved on now”, and don’t consider him to have any role in the Royal Family anymore.
Mr Rosindell told Express.co.uk: “What has happened with Prince Harry is a great sadness to the Queen and Royal Family as a whole.
“It is also very sad for the country that he has chosen the path that he has chosen.
“It was only three years ago when he had that wonderful wedding but then in less than two years have effectively resigned from the Royal Family is a great shame.
“Maybe him coming back for Prince Philip’s funeral will have reminded him what he has given up.
“But the country has moved on now – they do think of him as part of the Royal Family, but they don’t think of him as having a role anymore.”
The royal enthusiast warned, however, the interview with Oprah “backfire badly” on Harry and Meghan as most people will have seen it as attempt to hog the limelight once again.
Mr Rosindell said he has received several emails from his constituents in Romford, London expressing their upset and anger at how the Duke and Duchess had let down the Queen and Royal Family, but is hopeful of an amicable resolution.
He said: “The Oprah interview has backfired badly on them.

“Most people see it, particularly as an attempt from Meghan, to keep this whole thing going and to put themselves in the limelight.
“Most people don’t side with them – I look at my inbox from my constituents and the only emails I have had are from people saying how upset and appalled they were, and how they felt Harry and Meghan had let the Queen and Royal Family down.
“This split should be amicable and I really hope he no longer goes on TV and uses private conversations to undermine and harm the Royal Family.”
The royal enthusiast said mending the fractured relationship with his brother William is the “right thing to do” but that may take some time.
He believes Harry will “will realise the error he has made” but he and Meghan have made some big decisions they will have to live with for the foreseeable future.
Mr Rosindell said: “The right thing to do is to mend bridges with his brother William and other members of the Royal Family, but that will happen in time.
“I personally think he will realise the error he has made.
“But for the time being, he and Meghan have effectively abdicated their responsibilities and move away to lead a very different life than a member of the Royal Family could possibly do.”
