Prince Harry’s upcoming memoir forms part of the Sussexes bid to “remain relevant” after leaving the Royal Family, according to a royal expert. Daily Mail columnist Andrew Pierce said that the Duke needed to “earn his bucks” from the major streaming giants he has partnered with, and must therefore remain in the spotlight.

Andrew Pierce claimed: “They have to do it for him to remain relevant, he’s disappeared off the face of the earth for context of the Royal Family so he’s got to keep reminding people he’s here.

“He’s also got to earn his bucks from the TV companies, from Spotify, from Netflix.

“They need him out there in the public domain.”

Prince Harry announced his memoir through publishers Penguin Random House on July 19.

In a statement, the 36-year-old Duke said:I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become.

“I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story – the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned – I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.”

He also promised to give an “accurate and wholly truthful” first-hand account of his life.

The memoir is expected to cover his childhood, the death of Princess Diana, his military career and charitable work, as well as his current role as a father and husband.

Penguin Random House said they are “thrilled” to be publishing the memoir of “one of the most fascinating and influential global figures of our time”.

Ghost-written by Pulitzer prize-winning author, it is expected to hit bookshelves in late 2022.

The memoir will be available in both digital, audio and print formats and proceeds will be donated to charity.

Prince Harry’s memoir is his latest project since leaving the Royal Family in January 2020.
