The Duke of Sussex has been in the UK for over a week after rushing back to attend his grandfather’s funeral on Saturday. But Harry is said to be “desperate” to return to his heavily pregnant wife Meghan Markle and son Archie. He is understood to have bought an open ticket back to the US, meaning he could leave the UK on any date, The Sun has reported. This suggests the Duke could delay his return home and remain in the UK until after the Queen’s 95th birthday on Wednesday.
A source told the newspaper: “If all goes well, he could stay for the Queen’s birthday.”
Now Express.co.uk readers have urged Harry to delay his return to the US in order to remain in the UK for the Queen’s birthday – her first since Philip’s passing.
Our latest poll, which ran from 10.30am until 10pm on Monday April 19, asked: ‘Should Prince Harry delay US return to comfort Queen on 95th birthday?’
More than half of those who voted (57 percent or 4,026 readers) said the Duke should remain in the UK slightly longer.
Just over four in ten (42 percent or 2,945 readers) want Harry to fly back to the US immediately, while the remaining one percent (83 readers) were undecided.
Commenting on our original poll story, one Express.co.uk reader wrote: “He should stay without being asked. His wife will survive another week.
“He needs to apologise to the Queen, his father, his brother and Kate.
“He should be there on his grandmother’s birthday.”
A second person said: “Yes, he is the Queen’s grandson. Right now it’s the Queen who needs her family.”
Another reader added: “Who knows what goes on behind closed doors.
“If the Queen wants him to stay, definitely, if not he should leave.”
But several other furious Express.co.uk readers demanded Harry return to the US immediately.

One raged: “I highly doubt he is wanted. I’m sure his presence makes everyone uncomfortable.”
A second person said: “He’s a disruptive influence and I’m quite sure the Queen will have enough support from the rest of the family.”
Another reader added: “I’m at a loss to understand why his presence would be a comfort to Her Majesty. Quite the reverse I would have thought.
“As far as I’m concerned, he’s already overstayed his welcome.”
Some Royal Family experts have called for Harry to delay his return to the US so he can provide the Queen with extra support on her first birthday without Philip by her side.
Royal biographer Penny Junor said: “Harry should stay for the Queen’s birthday as it is the least he can do for his grandmother and it gives him even more opportunity to talk to his father and his brother.”
But, Daily Mirror Royal Editor Russell Myers claimed Harry is set to fly back to the US imminently.
Appearing on ITV’s Lorraine, Mr Myers discussed the Queen’s upcoming birthday and how other family members were “rallying around” her.
Host Lorraine asked whether he believed Harry would stay for the celebrations.
Mr Myers replied: “No, I’m told not I’ve been told he’s due to go in the next 24-hours.
“It is a shame but he is due to see the Queen before he goes.
“The royals have organised an unofficial rota system so the Queen will not be alone on her birthday – we can guarantee that.
“I think it is very important, as a lot of families have had to do, to try to have a period of togetherness whether it is on socially distant walks or through Zoom calls.”
