Harry took his final bow as a senior royal in March alongside his wife, Meghan Markle. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the Commonwealth Day service as their last official royal engagement after their shock decision to “step down” from the Firm. It was not a quiet affair, though, as Harry appeared to snub the Prime Minister while the eyes of the world were on them.
In startling footage from the Westminster Abbey ceremony, the prince could be seen talking to Richard Scott, the Duke of Buccleuch, as Mr Johnson waited his turn.
But rather than talking to the leader of the Conservative Party, Harry only offered him a quick nod before reaching out to Patricia Scotland, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, for another, more lengthy discussion.
The move sparked a social media sensation, with some even thanking the Duke for showing “backbone”.
And unearthed reports suggest that, if Harry’s move was intentional, it would represent a U-turn in his view of Mr Johnson.
In 2014, Harry joined Mr Johnson in an event to showcase the new playground at London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Then the Mayor of London, Mr Johnson appeared to share good relations with the then 29-year-old royal as they showed off the park’s new climbing frames together.
Footage shows Harry telling the future Prime Minister he “loves” the venue and “can’t wait to see it full of people”.
They even shared a joke at Prince George’s – Harry’s nephew and son of Prince William and Kate – expense.
When asked if he would bring George to the venue, Harry said: “I don’t know. That would probably cause chaos, wouldn’t it?”
Mr Johnson had other ideas, though, joking that: “Wild horses wouldn’t keep him away!”

This prompted a huge grin from Harry as he playfully laughed with the Brexit campaigner.
Harry concluded: “No, I’m sure he’ll have his chance to come down here.
“You never know, the Olympics might be back here again before we know it.”
When asked in January this year about Harry and Meghan’s decision to leave the Royal Family, Mr Johnson appeared reluctant to comment.
He told BBC Breakfast: “I think they’ll sort it out all the easier without any commentary from me.”
Mr Johnson added that while “everybody has got an opinion” on the situation, “the Royal Family is one of the great, great assets of this country and I’m sure they will sort it out”.
