The Duke of Sussex, joined by his wife Meghan Markle, told Ms Winfrey he was disappointed in his father because of Charles’ experiences with Princess Diana. The Duke added he “will always love” Charles but said there was a “lot of hurt”.

In clips released last week ahead of the interview, Harry compared their situation to that of his mother, Diana.

Speaking about the late Princess of Wales, he said: “I can’t begin to imagine what it must have been like for her going through this process by herself all those years ago, because it has been unbelievably tough for the two of us – but at least we had each other.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from full time Royal Family duties last month.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s interview with Ms Winfrey is the biggest Royal interview since 1995, when Martin Bashir sat down with Princess Diana for BBC’s Panorama.

The sit-down with Oprah has been highly-anticipated around the world.

It is of historic significance as it represents a break in tradition from royal norm – with Prince Harry, son of the Prince of Wales – speaking for the first time since he permanently stepped back from royal duties in February.

ITV have edited their usual schedule to show the interview.

Oprah With Meghan and Harry is on ITV at 9pm on Monday, March 8. You can watch the full interview afterwards on the ITV hub.
