On Sunday, the Los Angeles Rams played against the Cincinnati Bengals in the NFL Super Bowl in Inglewood, California. Though Prince Harry is famously a massive sports fan, it was his first appearance at a Super Bowl and he chose to attend with his close cousin Princess Eugenie. The two were spotted in the crowd enjoying the game after Eugenie flew out to California from Windsor where she lives with her husband Jack Brooksbank and their son August.

Harry and his wife Meghan Markle relocated to California in 2020 and he has clearly integrated well into American culture.

Meghan was raised in Los Angeles, so while it is not confirmed which team either of the royals were supporting, the LA Rams are a likely choice and were the winning team.

Princess Eugenie’s son August has just celebrated his first birthday and she marked the day on her Instagram page with a post revealing his nickname is Augie.

She wrote: “Happy 1st Birthday to our little hero Augie. You are such a special soul that brightens every room with your smile and wave. You have made us so very proud. We love you.”

Prince Harry and Eugenie have always been close but in recent times her support of the couple has meant a lot as Meghan revealed her connection to Eugenie before she met Harry.

Last March Meghan revealed to Oprah Winfrey that she knew Eugenie before she started dating Harry.

Meghan said: “Eugenie and I had known each other before I had known Harry, so that was comfortable. We’re friends with them as a couple.”

Two months after the arrival of August Brooksbank, Harry and Meghan announced that they were expecting their second child Lilibet.

Royal Insider told People: “These times tend to bring families together. What is lovely is Eugenie having her baby as Harry and Meghan are having theirs. They are very close”.

At Christmas, Harry and Meghan released a holiday card with a picture of the couple and their two children with a caption that reads: “This year, 2021, we welcomed our daughter, Lilibet, to the world. Archie made us a ‘Mama’ and a ‘Papa’, and Lili made us a family.”

While Princess Eugenie honoured her late grandfather Prince Philip by naming her son August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, Harry and Meghan also honoured the family with their daughter’s name.

The Sussexes’ Archewell website states the inspiration behind the name Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten Windsor: “Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty the Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet.

“Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honour her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.”

A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan revealed: “The Duke spoke with his family in advance of the announcement – in fact, his grandmother was the first family member he called.

“During that conversation, he shared their hope of naming their daughter Lilibet in her honour.”

The spokesman added: “Had she not been supportive, they would not have used the name.”
