The Duke of Sussex travelled from the home he shares with pregnant wife Meghan Markle and son Archie in California to attend the funeral of his grandfather at the weekend. However, it appears he quickly headed back on after the service so he could attend a lunch meeting with 81-year-old LA philanthropist Wallis Annenberg on Wednesday. They are reported to have met at the San Vicente Bungalows on the same day the Queen celebrated her 95th birthday in the UK, which was the first one without her husband of 73 years.

A source told Page Six: “They sat outside, far from other people, and Harry came in wearing a mask.”

The Annenberg Foundation is known for billions of dollars into issues linked to climate change, as well as animal welfare and social justice in the US.

Harry and Meghan have alluded to them wanting to work with charitable projects for their new Archewell brand.

They quickly set up multi-million-pound deals with Netflix and Spotify after stepping down as senior royals last year.

Ms Annenberg’s father Walter was a renowned publisher of US newspapers and magazines and was later US ambassador to the UK under then-president Richard Nixon.

He was also known to be a friend of Prince Charles and hosted the Queen and Prince Philip in California in the 1980s.

The Queen marked her birthday privately as she was in mourning.

Harry joined other senior royals to say a final farewell to Philip by walking behind a Land Rover hearse.

Other royals included Prince Charles, Prince William, and Philip’s other children, Princess Anne and Princes Edward and Andrew.

Harry is said to have held brief meetings with his father Prince Charles and brother William, but he then flew back to the US on Tuesday.

Meghan did not fly with him as she was advised against travelling by a doctor due to being heavily pregnant.

During the explosive Oprah interview, Harry took aim at his family as said he was cut off financially from his father after he stepped down as a senior royal.

He added he relied on money he inherited from his late mother Princess Diana while setting up his new life with Meghan and son Archie in the US.

Harry said the deals he and Meghan signed with Spotify and Netflix, reported to be worth more than £100million, were to help his family receive an income after being cut off from his father when he stepped down as senior royal.

He told Oprah: “I have what my mum left me and without that we wouldn’t have been able to do this.

“It’s like she saw it coming and she’s been with us through this whole process.”

Harry then added he felt trapped in the Royal Family and shared his “compassion” for his brother and father Prince Charles being unable to leave their roles.

He said: “My father and my brother, they are trapped. They don’t get to leave. And I have huge compassion for that.”

William was the first royal who spoke out publicly as he said: “We’re very much not a racist family”.

The Queen issued a statement saying “while some recollections may vary”, the issues would be taken “very seriously”, but dealt with privately as a family.

Harry could be returning to the UK again in July as he will reportedly stand with William at the unveiling of a statue for Princess Diana, at Kensington Palace, on what would have been her 60th birthday.
