Prince Harry signals new income stream with ‘designer deal’

Angela Levin says Harry wants to ‘crash’ the monarchy and ‘take over’

Prince Harry stepped out in a high fashion brand during his surprise visit to the UK this week which gave a subtle nod to his wife, Meghan Markle. Eagle-eyed royal watchers noticed that the Duke of Sussex was wearing a Christian Dior shirt while attending a High Court hearing in London in his claim against Daily Mail publisher Associated Newspapers over allegations of unlawful information-gathering. Celebrity stylist and royal fashion expert Miranda Holder has claimed it is “highly likely” Harry has a sponsorship deal with Dior.

She told Newsweek: “Wearing Dior is a new fashion direction for Prince Harry who usually prefers a more casual style, particularly now he has moved to California and no longer has to dress up to perform royal duties.

“We are used to seeing him informal and laid-back, in T-shirts and checked shirts with sleeves nonchalantly rolled up, a preppy blazer thrown on if he needs to take things up a notch.

“There are of course some occasions when smarter clothing is required, and a suit was a natural choice for Harry’s court appearance, but opting for super brand Dior was a sartorial curveball for Harry. The designer could be perceived by many as too flash for his normally understated personal style.”

She added: “Designer sponsorship deals with celebrities are commonplace, and it is highly likely that the Sussexes have an arrangement with Dior; it would be a highly convenient passive income for Harry and Meghan who make ideal ambassadors for the brand.”

It comes as Harry has “backtracked” on his offer to give up his royal titles despite calls for him and Meghan Markle to renounce their titles after making damaging accusations against the Royal Family.

The Duke of Sussex claimed in his Netflix docuseries he previously told King Charles he and Meghan would be “willing to relinquish” their titles.

Since then he rebuffed a question by 60 Minutes’ Anderson Cooper on whether he would give up the title.

Speaking to Us Weekly’s Royally Us, royal expert Jonathan Sacerdoti said: “If Harry has any self-respect he should renounce his title himself.

Harry and Meghan ‘absolutely cannot be on that balcony’

“The monarchy here isn’t just a soap opera. It’s not just a celebrity story, it’s a fundamental part of the British constitution.”

He added: “Harry revealed that he suggested to the king, his father, that he would give up his and Meghan’s titles anyway if they weren’t able to live in Canada and still perform some royal duties but that obviously didn’t work out for them.

“Since then he has backtracked on that offer, the couple still use their titles, especially in commercial activities through which they make millions of dollars.

“When he was asked recently if he would voluntarily give up the titles, he just snapped back and said what difference would that make.”

Harry’s controversial memoir has become the fastest-selling non-fiction book ever as his tell-all tale lambasting the royal family was finally published.

Harry’s headline-grabbing autobiography Spare, which hit the shelves on Tuesday, was boosted into the record books with 400,000 hardback, e-book and audio format copies being snapped up, its publisher said.

The book includes claims that the Prince of Wales physically attacked him and teased him about his panic attacks, and that the King put his own interests above Harry’s and was jealous of the Duchess of Sussex and the Princess of Wales.
