According to a press release by the Intrepid Museum in New York, the Duke of Sussex will serve as the guest of honour of a gala to present awards to service members, veterans and their family members. After a three-day trip to the big apple that was scrutinized all over the world, Prince Harry will be back in NYC on November 10 to attend the annual “Salute to Freedom” gala.

The gala “recognises extraordinary leadership and honours the brave men and women who serve in defence of our nation” according to the statement released by the museum.

Harry is set to award the Intrepid Valor Awards to five service members, veterans and military families living with the invisible wounds of war.

The Duke has used his platform several times before to talk about mental health struggles within the army and for veterans.

“We are so grateful to Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, for honouring and amplifying the stories of these heroes and helping raise awareness for mental health support for our men and women in uniform,” said Susan Marenoff-Zausner, president of the Intrepid Museum.

Apart from Archie’s father, the museum has announced the presence of musical icon Jon Bon Jovi and media entrepreneur Bob Pittman, who will both receive special awards.

Meghan Markle’s name is nowhere to be found on the press release which would suggest Harry could be attending on his own.

“We are incredibly proud to bestow the inaugural Intrepid Valor Awards to five incredible individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty and persevered through extraordinary circumstances,” Ms Marenoff-Zausner said.

“It is a core tenet of our institution to be there for our service members and veterans, who are always there for all of us.”

Earlier this month, Prince Harry attended a special talk on the same subject of life as a physically or mentally wounded veteran with First Lady Jill Biden over Zoom.

Addressing the online audience, Prince Harry thanked them for their inspiration.

“To see every single one of you here with the pride on your faces makes me incredibly happy to know how far you guys have come, the dark places that you’ve been to, and where you are now.”

“Thank you for showing us the way.”
