Royal Broadcaster Rafe Heydel-Mankoo, responding to reports read out by GB News breakfast host Isabel Webster that Prince Harry is seeking an apology from his elder brother, branded the Sussex’s plight a “ridiculous story”. Mr Heydel-Mankoo suggested there were “more serious issues right now than petty insignificant vacuous issues” such as this fraternal dispute but slammed Prince Harry for throwing a “litany of insults” towards Prince William yet then expecting him to apologise.

The Cambridges and Sussexes are currently living just half a mile apart in Windsor but have shown no signs of meeting up.

Ms Webster said: “There has been lots of talk this week about how the Sussex’s are in town. They are in Windsor across the park, now, from the Cambridges – Adelaide Cottage versus Frogmore Cottage – and they have not met up.

“Apparently, according to Omid Scobie, this is because Harry thinks William has not been accountable for crossing the line, nor has he been there for Harry in his darkest hour.”

Mr Heydel-Mankoo said: “Yes, well, we go from the sublime story of the Cambridge’s to the ridiculous story of the Sussex’s, as per usual.

“To expect Prince William to apologise after all the litany of insults that have been caused by the Sussexes is beggars belief.

“I mean, it is akin to Prince Harry digging himself a hole, Prince Harry throwing a ladder down, Prince Harry burning it and then blaming Prince William for the entire episode.

“They need to grow a pair and realise the country is going through a more serious issue right now than petty insignificant vacuous issues.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are currently on their first visit to the UK since Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June in which the Sussex’s attended only one visit in a public capacity.

They are staying at Frogmore Cottage, a home they occupied prior to leaving the royal family and one that they have kept since.

The Cambridges moved out of London and into Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor estate over the summer. The property is just half a mile away from Frogmore.

But it has been reported that Prince Harry is refusing to engage with his elder brother or his sister-in-law, as well as his nieces and nephews.

Prince Harry is believed to be furious at his elder brother for “turning his back when support was needed”, according to royal expert Omid Scobie, who spoke to a “family friend” of the royals.

Mr Scobie reported the source saying: “People are desperate for steps to be made but behind the scenes; there hasn’t been movement… What [Harry] is waiting for is accountability…

“Many lines were crossed by William. He was at the centre of a number of painful moments, be it the actions of his own staff or turning his back when support was needed. It was a dark time and one that, so far, William has been unprepared to unpack.”

Equally, the source suggested Prince William was “still waiting” for an apology himself from Harry, who he believes wrongly publicised family secrets, beginning with the interview with Oprah Winfrey in March of last year.
