Harry knelt down to say hello to the three-month-old tot who was sitting on her mother’s lap. The prince made the little girl smile and laugh by poking out his tongue. The 34-year-old is soon to become a dad with Meghan Markle, 37, due to give birth this month.

Speaking after meeting Harry, the tot’s mother said: “He was so excited and happy about the baby.

“He was asking about her sleeping. I think he’s worried about that – if the baby sleeps at night time.

“It was a nice surprise. He is a good person.”

During the visit, Harry took part in a roundtable discussion on young people’s mental health.

And he watched a ballet demonstration by a group of children aged four to six.

A gallery of pictures from the engagement was shared on Harry and Meghan’s new Instagram account, including a snap of Harry with the baby.

In the caption, the prince said: “There continues to be huge progress in smashing the stigma that surrounds mental health, but let’s keep normalising the conversation.

“Let’s keep reminding each other that it’s okay to not be okay, and to listen to each other.

“After all, how we think determines how we act, how we feel, and how we treat ourselves and those around us.”

The Sussexes set up their Instagram yesterday, weeks after their plans to split households with Prince William and Kate were revealed.

The couple have already racked up almost three million followers.

In their first post, Harry and Meghan thanked followers for their support, saying: “Welcome to our official Instagram; we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues.

“We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal.”

It was accompanied by an image of a white version of their royal cypher – the entwined initials H and M below a coronet – on a navy background.

And it included a gallery of photos of them from past royal engagements.
