Kensington Palace is expected to erect a statue of the late Princess Diana on July 1st. Both Prince Harry and Prince William are expected to attend however questions have arisen surrounding the Duke of Sussex following criticising comments about the Royal Family. Royal expert Charlie Rae spoke to TalkRadio’s Kevin O’Sullivan and addressed these concerns.

Mr Rae insisted that both Prince Charles and Prince William would put aside their differences with Prince Harry for the occasion.

However, Mr O’Sullivan argued the Duke may choose not to attend due to the ongoing feud.

Mr O’Sullivan said: “Prince Harry was slightly stunned by the cold shoulder reception he got from many royals.

“This is hardly surprising considering he called them a load of racists on television.

“I suspect that Harry may not come back in July.”

Mr Rae disagreed and claimed the Duke should come back and would receive a warmer reception from his family.

He did admit Harry received a cold reception from his family but reiterated the importance of Harry’s attendance.

The royal expert said: “You could well be right but the unveiling of the Princess Diana statue is something he needs to come back for.

“This has taken a long time, to get this project off the ground.

“Both William and Harry have pledged to be there.

“Harry said he felt trauma coming back for Prince Philip’s funeral, well he is going to feel more trauma because he is continuing to criticise his own family.

“It will be very interesting to see the reception he will get.

“I am sure he will get a good reception, I mean that genuinely, from Prince William and Charles.

“This is because they are doing something special and both of them are going to make their own speeches.”

Mr Rae reflected on concerns from the public that this indicated that the brothers were not united.

He said: “A lot of people have said that shows how far apart they are but I would have not expected anything else.

“I expect them to make individual speeches to talk about their mother.

“It is only right and proper that they both should have their say.

“It is particularly important that we see the respect from both sons to their mother.

“I am not suggesting that they do not have respect for their mother but we need to see it.

“I think Prince Harry would be making a very big mistake if he finds a reason not to come.”
