Prince Harry’s absence from his family’s life “for so long” meant that he was not there for bonding “through a moment of unbelievable upset”, a royal commentator has claimed. The Daily Mail’s Femail editor Charlie Lankston explained to Access that the Duke of Sussex may be feeling “like an outsider” at the moment. She also warned that his father and brother would be looking at “how to really deal” with him and Meghan Markle moving forward.

Ms Lankston told viewers: “It really was a very difficult situation for everyone involved.

“I think Harry felt a little bit like an outsider.

“Not only because of what has gone down with the Oprah interview, with the rift between him and his brother.

“But also simply because he has been away from the family for so long.”

She continued: “During that time the rest of the senior royals have really come together and bonded through a moment of unbelievable upset the world over.

“Going through the pandemic with your relatives, with those closest to you, I think for a lot of people out there has been an incredible bonding experience.

“And the Royal Family is no different.

“Additionally dealing with the fallout from that Meghan and Harry interview has helped the Royal Family to come together and form really close relations.”

The royal expert added: “Particularly when it comes to William and Charles.

“We know that the two of them have been working very closely together to formulate a plan as to how the Royal Family moves forward.

“And how they really deal with Meghan and Harry’s position looking ahead.”

Harry reunited with his family in person for the first time since leaving for the United States in March 2020 at Prince Philip’s funeral on April 17.

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex was unable to travel due to her late-stage pregnancy.

The Duke, Kate and William were spotted talking together as they walked out of the chapel.

Royal commentators claimed the Duchess played a pivotal role by drawing her brother-in-law into the conversation as soon as they left Prince Philip’s funeral service.

There were also reports that he spoke to the Queen, Prince Charles, William and Kate privately.
