The Duke of Sussex praised youngsters who received the award in honour of Princess Diana for their “determination and compassion”. He issued the statement days after he flew into Heathrow ahead of a reunion with Prince William to unveil a statue of their late mother. Harry, who is believed to be isolating at Frogmore Cottage, said: “There is great need for young leadership and there is no greater time to be a young leader.
“I believe in you. We believe in you.
“And that belief in your own ability to change the world in doing the right thing is what makes you a force to be reckoned with.
“To all the 2021 Diana Award recipients thank you for inspiring us with your brilliance, your determination and your compassion, you actions hold the potential to leave a life changing impact.
“You are putting the ‘do’s’ behind the ‘say’s’, and this is the personification of our mother’s legacy.”
The Diana Award is given to young people aged between nine and 25 for humanitarian work and social action.
The scheme was set up to continue the legacy of William and Harry’s mum, who died following a car crash in Paris in August 1997.
