Prince Harry has ‘turned it around’ since becoming a father – ‘he’s just like Diana’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their baby son Archie Harrison to the world at the start of May. The Duke of Sussex has said that he wants to be a role model to his son, and a royal expert has claimed Harry has “turned it around”. Opening the segment, Sunrise host David Koch joked about Prince Harry’s past.

He said: “Harry was a bit of a lad in his younger days. But, he is growing up to be a good bloke?”

Scott Henderson, Men’s Health Editor replied: “He’s turned it around. He has done a full 360, hasn’t he?

“Credit where credit is due, he is saying that fatherhood has changed him.

“He wants to be an inspiration for Archie. But, with all the work he has done recently with Invictus Games, he is kind of already there, to be honest.”

Samantha Brett, 7 News Reporter, insisted that Prince Harry “is just like Diana” with the way he “connects” with the people.

She said: “I think we forget just how much Prince Harry has actually done. He served in the British army for 10 years.

“He went to Afghanistan twice. His mum died when he was 12-years-old, but I think, the thing we can all see emanating from Prince Harry is the fact that he is just like Diana. He can connect to the people.

“He really just speaks to the people. Forget the fact that he is a prince, I think it is his character that is shining through at the moment.”

Mark Beretta joked about Prince Harry’s past, before adding the Duke of Sussex is “taking the lead” and “stepping up”.

He said: “Archie will reach a stage in his life where he will want to go to Las Vegas with his dad.

“But, you see the evolution of the man, it’s really interesting and a great thing. Those of us who were fans of Harry knew he had this goodness in him and he is going through this great process where now he is going to take the lead and step up and that’s great, good on him.”

It comes after the Duke of Sussex said becoming a dad for the first time had made him realise he was now looked up to by another person – suggesting he will have to be an inspiration to his child.

In a speech at a national youth mentoring summit, Prince Harry said: “I’m struck by a few things today, most of which is the power of the invisible role model.

“The person who may be sitting here today that doesn’t realise that someone looks up to them, that – for that person – you inspire them to be kinder, better, greater, more successful, more impactful.

“Perhaps it’s the newfound clarity I have as a father knowing that my son will always be watching what I do, mimicking my behaviour, one day maybe even following in my footsteps.

“But it’s not just my role as a father that shows me that; it’s in the people I see every day that don’t realise how inspirational they are to those watching.”

The event was organised by the Diana Award, a charity Harry supports which honours the legacy of his mother.
