Meghan Markle jokingly told her husband Prince Harry “You’ve got to stop”, after he made another quip about his age. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had conducted a Zoom call with the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust last August when Prince Harry joked that he was “way too old” to be using social media platforms. Prince Harry celebrated his 37th birthday on Wednesday, spending the special day with his family in California.

Speaking of the funny moment, royal expert Rachel Bowie told the podcast Royally Obsessed: “If I could slap him on the wrist for this, I would – just like Meghan verbally did. She’s like ‘Stop it, you can’t keep saying that’.”

Co-host Roberta Fiorito continued: “Very politely but maybe later she was like seriously, I’m 40. He was 35 at the time of this so she was obviously 38 or 39 but still, come on Harry, you’re never too old.

Meghan and Harry had made the joint appearance via Zoom from their home in Montecito last August.

Despite stepping down from their roles as senior working royals, they remain President and Vice-President of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.

In a conversation about on the role of the internet, and the younger generation’s ability to make a positive change via the online world, Prince Harry said: “I love that fact that you’re all so well connected as well.

“That’s why this platform was created—to bind you guys together. To use that thinking, that awareness, that self-awareness that you guys have to be able to make the world a better place.”

“I say ‘you’—I want to include us, but I already feel as I’m way too old…”

To which Meghan replied, through laughter: “You’ve got to stop! We’re not too old!

The Duke of Sussex celebrated his 37th birthday on September 15, whilst the Duchess reached her milestone 40th birthday on August 4.

This is not the first time Prince Harry has made a joke about his age.

In a previous call with the Commonwealth Trust in July, he joked, “Guys, I’m aging. I’m 35 already.”

Meghan once again had replied, “That’s not aging!”

For her 40th birthday, Meghan Markle launched her 40×40 initiative through the couple’s non-profit organisation Archewell.

Speaking on a recorded Zoom video with Hollywood actress Melissa McCarthy, the Duchess introduced her latest project, which is aimed at helping unemployed women remobilise for the workforce.

In a statement on Archewell, Meghan wrote that women had been “shouldering the brunt” of the Covid-19 pandemic, with over 2 million women losing their jobs in the US alone.

As part of the initiative, Meghan had asked “40 friends, activists, athletes, artists, and world leaders to help kickoff a global effort” by contributing 40 minutes of their team to mentoring an unemployed woman.

Influential figures such as Hillary Clinton, Amanda Gorman, Adele and Princess Eugenie were among those asked to participate.
