The Duke of Sussex is reportedly reworking sections of his forthcoming memoir in the wake of the Queen’s funeral because of the damaging bombshell allegations it could contain. But it might already be too late for Prince Harry, who has already signed off for an expected autumn publication date as part of a three-book deal. The release of the book, a royal reporter said, could keep King Charles from holding out an olive branch to the Sussexes.
Speaking to the Royal Round Up host Pandora Forsyth, GB New royal reporter Cameron Walker said: “The problem for Prince Harry is that he’s already been paid £17.5million of a £35million contract for this book.
“The publishers may well want this book to be on the bookshelves for American Thanksgiving and Christmas.
“And therefore, they might already be at the printers.”
Mr Walker continued: “So, it could be too late for Prince Harry to remove – if indeed, he wants to remove anything – which is going to be a bit of an issue if as expected, he may have attacked what was Prince Charles when he wrote the book, Duchess Camilla and indeed the institutional monarchy.
“Because of the Queen’s interviews and things go by, it’s going to be quite a sticky situation.
“If this book is as critical as that Oprah interview was perceived to be, I think they will really struggle to have any kind of olive branches with the Royal Family.”
The release date of Prince Harry’s autobiography, which he has billed as an “accurate and wholly truthful” account of his life as a working royal member, has not yet been officially confirmed.
The publisher Penguin Random House has described the book as “an intimate and heartfelt memoir” in which “Prince Harry will offer an honest and captivating personal portrait” of his “lifetime in the public eye from childhood to the present day, including his dedication to service, the military duty that twice took him to the front lines of Afghanistan, and the joy he has found in being a husband and father.”
However, the publisher is thought to want the tell-all memoir to be on sale in the United States by Thanksgiving on November 24 to hit the Christmas market.
But the Queen’s funeral and the subsequent reunion with the Royal Family could push the Duke of Sussex to withdraw – or edit parts of – the book in a bid to rebuild relations with his father, King Charles.
An unnamed source told The Telegraph reported that when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were together with the Royal Family after Queen Elizabeth’s death, King Charles saw promising signs of a breakthrough in their relationship.
And in his first address as King, Charles expressed his “love” for Harry and Meghan “as they continue to build their lives overseas.”

And Prince William, whose relationship with Prince Harry has been less than amicable in recent years, invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to join him and Kate, the Princess of Wales in inspecting tributes for the Queen at Windsor Castle two days after Her late Majesty’s death.
The couples appeared together to greet mourners outside the Royal Family’s Berkshire residence, the first official outing for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle since stepping down in March 2020.
Prince Harry later joined the Prince of Wales and their cousins for a vigil of the Queen’s coffin at Westminster Hall before the funeral.
In a sign of goodwill, the Duke was allowed to don his military uniform but he had to revert to a morning coat for the official funerary service on September 19 as he was stripped of his military honours when he stopped working on behalf of the Crown.
