Prince Harry has been described as being in a “verbal cage” by royal biographer Angela Levin. The commentator claimed that while the Duke of Sussex had wanted to support the Royal Family during the years leading up to his meeting with Meghan Markle, he quickly changed after their relationship started, and his “language is now Meghan’s speak”.
Royal author Ms Levin spent several months with Prince Harry when she was writing her 2018 biography ‘Harry: A Biography of a Prince’, and was given unparalleled access to his home at Kensington Palace and accompanied him during his royal duties.
When asked by host Nigel Farage if Prince Harry had changed since meeting Meghan Markle, Ms Levin claimed: “Definitely afterwards, he did actually move away from being the ‘party boy’ and he did want to make a difference.
“He said to me he wanted to support the Queen, he wanted to support Prince William, he wanted to be there and he wanted to make his mark.
“He said he might go to Africa and make his mark there, looking after animals that could go extinct.
“Once he met Meghan, he became terrified of upsetting her. She was the one for him, it was an instant blow of passion and he has to do what she says in his own mind, his language is now Meghan’s speak.”
Ms Levin added: “He was charismatic, he was very quick-thinking, he could make a speech and make you roll with laughter and cry.
“He was brilliant with people who’d been damaged psychologically and physically, and he could talk to them for two minutes and then I went and talked to them afterwards and they said ‘He’s changed my life, he’s given me a reason to live, he’s empowered me to make something of myself’.
“It’s a great gift that and I wouldn’t take that away from him, but now, it’s like he’s in a cage, a verbal cage.”
Prince Harry first met Meghan Markle in the summer of 2016 through a blind date that was organised by a mutual friend.
The former actress was based in Toronto, where she was filming her successful TV series ‘Suits’, in which she starred as the protagonist’s primary love interest.
Their relationship progressed quickly, and for their third date, Prince Harry took her to Botswana for a romantic holiday.
While the couple tried to maintain an element of privacy to their relationship, it became public knowledge after the Prince released a statement in November 2016 to say a “line had been crossed” in the level of media harassment Meghan and her family had endured.
Despite this, the couple announced their engagement in November 2017 and were married on May 19, 2018 at St George’s Chapel.

The Duke and Duchess spent the next 18 months working for the Royal Family and were in the process of establishing their own foundation, Sussex Royal.
However, in January 2020, the couple announced they would be stepping down from their roles as senior working royals and would be relocating to North America.
Since then, they have conducted a number of interviews where they have criticised the Royal Family, and spoken of their rift with the Firm.
During their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, the couple alleged that their royal relatives had ignored the couple’s mental health, denied their son a title, and that a senior member of the family had made a racist remark.
Prince Harry has conducted a number of solo interviews where he has criticised his father and compared life in the Royal Family to “being in a zoo”.
He is also due to release his tell-all memoir in the autumn of 2022.
