Bon Jovi released a new single in collaboration with the Duke of Sussex and the Invictus Games Choir called “Unbroken”, which was recorded at the Abbey Road Studios. All proceeds from the single are going to the Invictus Games Foundation, which supports the recovery and rehabilitation of international wounded, injured or sick military personnel. The Games themselves are a paralympic-style event which sees injured military personnel and veterans compete against each other in adaptive sports, like sitting volleyball and wheelchair rugby.

Harry teased the song on social media, first releasing a mock-up text conversation with the singer and then with a video of the two of them in the sound booth recording vocals together.

The project was last year, intending to be released ahead of the 2020 Invictus Games in The Hague, but the event was postponed due to the coronavirus crisis.

It was originally pushed back to 2021, and then delayed again, so they will now take place next year.

However, Harry was branded “tragic” for his “awful” collaboration with Bon Jovi.

Pod Save the Queen is hosted by Ann Gripper and features Daily Mirror royal editor Russell Myers.

Ms Gripper said: “He worked with Jon Bon Jovi last year when they were doing stuff for Invictus with that funny little pretend text messages that they were doing.

“And then they were singing together, weren’t they?”

Mr Myers replied: “Oh God. That was pretty tragic, wasn’t it? It was awful.”

Ms Gripper leapt to his defence saying: “I mean, come on, you get to have a laugh with Jon Bon Jovi.”

Mr Myers asked: “Is Jon Bon Jovi even cool? It’s our era isn’t it?”

Ms Gripper insisted: “You can’t diss Jon Bon Jovi, I’m sorry.”

Still incredulous, Mr Myers said: “Really? I mean I’m not really a fan of Jon Bon Jovi, to be honest.”

Ms Gripper replied: “Ultimately, you’ve got to stick with the original music from our era.

“It’s even probably from before our era ‒ the big hair and the rocking, all of that good stuff.”

Mr Myers added: “Our [era] is probably speed garage and Britpop. That’s a bit cooler.”

Bon Jovi came up because Mr Myers said Harry’s latest appearance at Vax Live reminded him of it.

Vax Live was a concert held in Los Angeles attended by vaccinated frontline workers, at which Harry called for vaccinations to be distributed to everyone, everywhere.

Mr Myers said it was a sentiment “we can all agree with”, noting that it was a star-studded event, hosted by Selena Gomez and featuring performances from Jennifer Lopez and the Foo Fighters, as well as a video message from US President Joe Biden.

Mr Myers said Harry “fits right into that lineup” and explained how the Duke received a standing ovation when he arrived.

Harry praised the frontline workers in attendance at the SoFi stadium, saying the event was a “celebration” of them and the millions of others around the world working tirelessly to combat the pandemic.

A recording of the Vax Live concert will be broadcast tomorrow at 8pm ET (12am GMT).

If you are watching from outside the US, there will be a YouTube live stream.
