The Duke of Sussex, 36, who quit royal duties with Meghan Markle last year for a new life in America, yesterday revealed he is writing a tell-all book about his life. And a royal source has reportedly warned the memoir is the “final nail in the coffin” of the Royal Family’s relationship with Harry.

The insider told MailOnline’s Dan Wootton: “This is the no going back moment – the final nail in the coffin of the Royal Family’s relationship with Harry.

“The emotional turmoil as they wait over a year for publication is going to be torturous.”

Harry’s book is set to be published by Penguin Random House next year.

The Duke said he was penning the memoir “not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become”.

And he insisted it would be an “accurate and wholly truthful” account of his life.

In a statement, the Queen’s grandson said: “I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become.

“I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story – the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned – I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.

“I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a first hand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful.”

The book will cover Harry’s life in the public eye, including his time in the military, marriage and fatherhood.

Markus Dohle, CEO of Penguin Random House, said, “All of us at Penguin Random House are thrilled to publish Prince Harry’s literary memoir and have him join the world-renowned leaders, icons, and change-makers we have been privileged to publish over the years.

“Prince Harry has harnessed his extraordinary life experience as a prince, a soldier, and a knowledgeable advocate for social issues, establishing himself as a global leader recognized for his courage and openness.

“It is for that reason we’re excited to publish his honest and moving story.”

Harry’s book comes after he and Meghan hit out at the Royal Family during their Oprah Winfrey interview in March.

The couple made a series of explosive claims about the royals in the tell-all TV programme, including racism accusations.

Harry also laid bare his rifts with his father Prince Charles and his older brother Prince William.

And he went on to make further controversial comments about his family in the following weeks.

The Sussexes quit as working royals in March 2020 for a new life of personal and financial freedom in California.

Harry has returned to the UK twice since Megxit – for Prince Philip’s funeral in April and the unveiling of a Princess Diana statue earlier this month.
