Prince Harry and Prince William’s relationship is ‘doomed’ after decision to leave family

They have tried to repair their relationship at times but, for now at least, it looks doomed. Royal sources have suggested that Harry’s decision to get engaged to Meghan was the spark that created tension between the brothers and it appeared to worsen after the couple got married and started wanting to shake up the way they operated. Some advisers have said it was inevitable that the change in family dynamics would lead to the Sussexes separating their office from that of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. “Harry is not the kid brother living on his own just across the way any more. He was always bound to want to branch out,” one said.

But he and Meghan have ruffled so many feathers in the Royal household and in the family in what after all is a family business, the tensions have turned into a rift.

William, fed up with the constant clashes, decided to wash his hands of the Sussexes and separate out the households and the charitable foundation under which both brothers and their wives were supposed to work together for decades to come, according to multiple sources.

When both brothers and Kate joined the Queen at church on her 93rd birthday on Easter Sunday at Windsor last year, the tension between William and Harry was palpable in their body language.

In spite of that, William, 37, was shocked when he saw his brother in a television documentary in October talking about his and Meghan’s struggles to cope with royal life.

One source close to William said it was clear that Harry was “fragile”.

The future King tried to reach out to his brother but their relationship has been further damaged by this latest debacle, according to friends.

William, along with Prince Charles and the Queen will try to find a way for his brother and sister-in-law to seek a way out but their advisers have warned it will be difficult and it is not clear if the brothers will ever be as close again.

Their mutual friend, Tom Bradby, the ITV News At Ten Anchor said earlier this week before Harry ignored his family’s wishes: “There are lots of people who would love there to be, including I think the brothers themselves, love them to be closer again. And with any luck that will happen. But with families, we all know stuff happens, things are said.”

He told Good Morning Britain: “And also a family dispute within a family firm. You are working in a big family firm, everyone has their wishes and desires and ambitions and they have to be balanced up and it’s very hard.”
