Royal Editor and commentator Robert Jobson joined GB News presenter Dan Wootton to discuss the recent Time magazine front cover featuring Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who were part of the top 100 most influential people in 2021. But the royal commentators were less than favourable to the Sussexes, with Mr Wootton questioning why the couple should be celebrated. Mr Jobson agreed and noted the Sussexes said they have taken a lot of time off after the birth of their daughter Lilibet and have only signed “big-money deals” and producing very little.

The accolade was announced on Prince Harry’s 37th birthday on September 15 with Jose Andres, a friend of the couple who also runs the charity World Central Kitchin, writing a gushing tribute to the Sussexes.

He wrote: “Springing into action is not the easy choice for a young duke and duchess who have been blessed through birth and talent, and burned by fame.

“It would be much safer to enjoy their good fortune and stay silent, they run towards the struggle.”

The Sussexes wrote they were “humbled” by the award.

Speaking on GB News, Mr Wootton took aim at the Time magazine cover, stating he “hated” the pictures.

He said: “It’s just what you’d actually expect from the Montecito mansion and publicity machine in California.

“I just hated it, I didn’t like it at all, and I don’t know what Time magazine’s doing, what are they celebrating them for?”

Mr Jobson replied: “I don’t know, when I looked at the photograph it looks like [Prince Harry’s] head is floating.

Prince Harry and Meghan mocked for Time magazine cover

I think he’s wearing… they’ve got the dress wrong in that sense.

“But you know it’s inevitable, they’ve got a very big team behind them, a lot of money behind them, and they’re going to be pushing it.

“I was surprised Time magazine, which is a respected magazine over the years, bought into this nonsense really.

“Because [the Sussexes] told us when their little girl was born and they’re going to take time off.

“They haven’t done an awful lot apart from sign big-money deals and I haven’t seen them produce anything.

“Apart from a couple of videos of him juggling in the background so I’m quite surprised that they fall up to this but suppose just gives them a cover, gives them a talking point.”

Mr Wootton looked at the cover and laughed as he said the image made it look as if Harry was Meghan’s hairdresser.

The GB News presenter noted the body language made it seem as if Meghan was the one in control.

Mr Jobson noted she was “front and centre” in a two-person picture with Prince Harry seen to be an “add-on” to the Duchess.

Since leaving the Royal Family, the Sussexes have announced several ventures which are reportedly being worked on by the couple.

Meghan Markle is working on an animated series for Netflix currently called “Pearl” which will follow the life of a young girl exploring influential women throughout history.

The couple has also appeared as guests at several major events including Vax Live and the GQ awards where they delivered speeches.

Economist Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the first African and first woman to lead the World Trade Organization, was also honoured on the list.

Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny who has spent his life opposing Vladimir Putin was poisoned during a flight and is subsequently in a Russian jail was also on the list.
