Kate, Duchess of Cambridge’s sister Pippa Matthews, 37, gave birth to her second child on Monday. Pippa and her husband James welcomed baby Grace Elizabeth Jane Matthews to the world in the early hours of Monday morning. The parents who already have a two-year-old son, Arthur, are said to be “overjoyed” by their new arrival.

Pippa and James live in West London, a short distance from Kensington Palace, where the Cambridges are based during term time.

Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, two, returned to London from Norfolk with their parents ahead of schools reopening earlier this month.

Now Kate is back in the capital with her children, she may look forward to catching up with her sister and getting to meet her new niece.

COVID-19 restrictions currently limit the number of people from separate households who can mix in England, and it may be some time before the Duchess gets to reunite with Pippa and her family.

When will George, Charlotte and Louis get to meet their new cousin?

Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s roadmap out of lockdown is a guide as to when socialising in larger groups will be allowed again.

If infection rates continue to fall then from March 29 people will be allowed to meet outside, either with one other household or within the “rule of six”, including in private gardens.

This means that from March 29, Kate and her three children could visit Pippa and her new baby if the meeting takes place outdoors.

Pippa’s baby name explained

Baby Grace’s two middle names are not only a nod to both her grandmothers, Carole Elizabeth Middleton and Jane Matthews, but Elizabeth has also been deemed a subtle tribute to the Queen.

Royal Family members often pay homage to relatives when it comes to picking middle names for their children.

And while Pippa is not a royal, she may have followed in the sweet tradition.

Kate and Prince William’s daughter Charlotte also has Elizabeth as her middle name.

Charlotte’s full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana Mountbatten-Windsor – Diana being a nod to William’s late mother.

Prince Andrew, 61, and Sarah Ferguson’s older daughter Princess Beatrice, 32, has Elizabeth as one of her middle names too – her full name is Beatrice Elizabeth Mary.

Last month the Queen’s granddaughter Princess Eugenie, 30, gave birth to a baby boy and honoured her grandfather Prince Philip, 99, with a sweet name choice.

On February 20, Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank revealed they had named their son August Philip Hawke in a sweet Instagram post.
