Prince George, who is third in line to the throne, has already had a whirlwind month so far. George attended the Euro 2020 final with his parents on Sunday, wearing an adorable suit just like his father. But the excitement is likely to continue, as Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge’s eldest son is due to celebrate his eighth birthday on July 22.
How could Prince George celebrate his eighth birthday?
Royal birthdays are usually a low-key affair, so celebrations for Prince George’s birthday on July 22 are likely to take place privately.
The family could stay at their London base of Kensington Palace to mark George’s birthday.
But the Cambridge family may also retreat to their Norfolk home of Anmer Hall for the Prince’s special day.
A gift from the Queen for their wedding day, Kate and William are known to enjoy spending time at Anmer with their three children because they love the great outdoors.
Last year, George spent his birthday at Anmer with the rest of his family, as his birthday fell during the UK lockdown.
George is thought to have enjoyed a special birthday tea in his honour, attended by his family and some friends.
The year prior, George had a much more glamorous birthday on the Caribbean island of Mustique.
However, a source told Vanity Fair the Cambridge’s were very happy with a staycation birthday for the young prince in 2020.
The source said: “It will be nice for George to have his birthday at home.
“They all love being in Norfolk and William and Kate would love to live there full time if they could.
“George loves being outdoors. A perfect day is going to the beach, sailing his toy boat playing in the sand and having a good game of hide and seek in the dunes. They are out all day every day.”

What are the Cambridge birthday traditions?
One thing which is almost certainly guaranteed is a new portrait of Prince George is likely to be released to mark his eighth birthday.
In previous years, the Cambridge children have usually had their birthday portraits taken by their mother Kate.
Last year’s birthday portrait showed Prince George grinning in the grounds of what was thought to be the Cambridge’s home of Anmer Hall during the lockdown.
Prince George is also likely to receive a special birthday cake made with love by his mum too.
In 2019, Kate said on the BBC special A Berry Royal Christmas she stays up late every year to make a special cake on the eve of her children’s birthdays.
Kate said: “It’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up until midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it.”
Prince George is reportedly a fan of chocolate biscuit cake, just like his father William.
