The children of Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William shook hands with clergymen at the memorial. Princess Charlotte was described as a “natural” as the young royals smiled. Royal expert Roya Nikkhah said: “Just eight years old and getting used to lineups.

“It’s very nice of Princess Charlotte to be there with him as well.”

Ms Nikkhah added: “She’s an absolute natural Princess Charlotte, isn’t she?”

BBC’s Huw Edwards noted: “Nice smiles and a firm handshake.”
