Prince George is the eldest son of Prince William and Kate Middleton. He has two younger siblings, Princess Charlotte, four, and Prince Louis, one. But how old is the third in line to the throne?

Prince George turns six-years-old today.

He was born on July 22, 2013 in the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital in London.

As he is expected to be king someday, his birth was widely celebrated across the Commonwealth realms.

Where is Prince George in the line of succession?

Prince George is third in line to the succession of the British throne.

He is the eldest son of Prince William, who is second.

George’s father is the son of Prince Charles, who has the claim to the throne when the current monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, steps down or dies.

The succession to the throne is regulated not only through descent, but also by Parliamentary statute.

The order of succession is the sequence of members of the Royal Family in the order in which they stand in line to the throne.

According to the Royal Family’s website the “basis for the succession was determined in the constitutional developments of the seventeenth century”.

It culminated in the Bill of Rights (1689) and the Act of Settlement (1701).

The site further reads: “The Sovereign must, in addition, be in communion with the Church of England and must swear to preserve the established Church of England and the established Church of Scotland.

“The Sovereign must also promise to uphold the Protestant succession.”
