The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a huge decision earlier this year, as they announced their intentions to step back as senior members of the Royal Family. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle eventually relocated from their temporary Vancouver Island residence to Los Angeles in March as they began their new post-royal lives. The couple is said to be living in Tyler Perry’s Beverly Hills mansion.

The decision to step down came after months of speculation that the Duchess could not settle into royal life, as she found it “very difficult”.

In a documentary filmed throughout her 10-day tour of Africa with Harry in October, Meghan revealed that she was “existing” not “living”.

Prince William’s wife, Kate Middleton, on the other hand, adjusted quite well to life as a royal following her nuptials in 2011.

After reportedly struggling with the constant media attention in the early days of their romance, the Duchess of Cambridge sailed through her first year of royal engagements without putting a foot wrong.

According to a 2012 report by The Sun, Prince Edward claimed in an interview that the entire Royal Family was delighted with Kate.

He said: “Catherine is doing very well. She has taken to royal life like a duck to water.

“She’s very gracious and the family is very proud of her.

“It was never going to be easy for Catherine as the whole world is watching her every move.

“She’s dealt with it very well, though.

“I think Catherine can only grow in confidence now her first official engagements are out of the way.”

While the royals were excited to see how much of a success Kate was proving, they were determined to continue to shield her so she could grow into her royal life.

The Queen’s youngest son noted: “My mother and father are understandably very protective of her.

“William’s grown up with the attention but Catherine hasn’t.

“But she’s dealing with it very well and the family support her as much as we can.

“I think William and Harry, as well as my brother, have tried their best to make her transition into public life as gentle as possible.”

Edward also confirmed the family’s joy that the future King had found his perfect match.

He added: “We were all thrilled to welcome Catherine into the family because she’s absolutely lovely, very charming indeed and a perfect companion for William
