Prince Charles was contagious TWO weeks ago – one day after he visited Queen Elizabeth II

Prince Charles, 71, has tested positive for COVID-19, his office, Clarence House, has revealed today. The Prince of Wales remains “in good health” and has been displaying “mild symptoms”, a spokesman added. But there are growing concerns over whether Charles was contagious when he last saw his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Sky News correspondent Rhiannon Mills said: “Doctors’ most conservative estimate is that the Prince is likely to have been contagious from around March 13 – the day after he carried out his last official public engagement.

“People will also wonder when was the last time he saw his mother, Her Majesty the Queen, the last time the Queen met with the Prince was very briefly on March 12.”

In a statement, Clarence House said: “The Prince of Wales has tested positive for coronavirus.

“He has been displaying mild symptoms but otherwise remains in good health and has been working from home throughout the last few days as usual.

“The Duchess of Cornwall has also been tested but does not have the virus.

“It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks.”

A royal source said the Prince of Wales was tested on Monday and got the results on Tuesday.

Charles has spoken to both Queen Elizabeth and his children.

Buckingham Palace released a statement with an update on the Queen’s health.

It read: “The Queen remains in good health.

“The Queen last saw The Prince of Wales briefly on the morning of 12 March and is following all the appropriate advice with regard to her welfare.

“We will not be commenting further.”

Charles had been displaying “mild symptoms” over the weekend before being tested on Monday.

The heir to the throne’s last public engagement was on March 12 when he attended a Mansion House dinner hosted by William Russell, Lord Mayor of the City of London, and George Brandis, the High Commissioner for Australia, in aid of the Australian bushfire relief and recovery effort.

Sometime during the day the prince saw the Queen privately.

He last saw the Queen at a public event on Monday March 9, when senior royals including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.
