Prince Charles to copy Queen Elizabeth II and confirm when he has had Covid-19 vaccine

Queen: Covid-19 vaccine ‘message of hope’ says expert

Heir apparent Prince Charles, 72, will follow in his mother Queen Elizabeth II’s footsteps and reveal when he has received the Covid-19 vaccine, a royal insider has confirmed. The Queen took the unprecedented step of sharing royal health information after she and her husband Prince Philip, 99, received a first dose of the vaccine on Saturday.

While royal health matters are usually closely-guarded secrets, the Queen chose to share the news in order to prevent further speculation.

Now Express.co.uk has learnt that her son Prince Charles will mirror the move when he eventually receives the vaccine.

The Prince of Wales was the first British royal to test positive for the virus back in March but recovered having suffered only mild symptoms.

Since then, Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall have led the Royal Family in thanking keyworkers and NHS staff across Britain for their extraordinary work amid the pandemic.

When will Prince Charles receive the vaccine?

The future king is unlikely to receive the vaccine for several weeks or even months as he is not among the most high-risk group.

The NHS is currently offering the COVID-19 vaccine to people most at risk from coronavirus.

In England, the vaccine is currently being offered to people aged 80 and over, people who live or work in care homes and to those who work in health and social care sectors.

The Palace has confirmed Royal Family members will not receive preferential treatment when it comes to getting the vaccine first.
