Prince Charles made a “revolutionary” speech on climate change to the world leaders at COP26 in Glasgow earlier this month. The Prince of Wales has notably broken with Royal Family convention for decades and openly spoke about the need for action to combat the climate emergency, oftentimes meeting with the criticism of the public. But the chairman of the Australian Monarchist League Philip Benwell insisted the royal will bow to tradition and adopt the Queen’s own strategy on silence on political matters once king.
Mr Benwell told Sky News Australia: “At the moment, he is free to speak.
“But when he becomes Monarchy will be bound by the conventions, and if he does speak out, then people will call him out.
“But the monarch must do as his or her governments require of them within constitutional bounds.”
Prince Charles, who led the Royal Family’s delegation to COP26 after the Queen heeded doctors’ orders to rest, gave a “combative” speech requesting everyone to get down to work and save the planet together.

He said: “I can only urge you, as the world’s decision-makers, to find practical ways of overcoming differences so we can all get down to work, together, to rescue this precious planet and save the threatened future of our young people.
“The COVID-19 pandemic had shown us just how devastating a global, cross border threat can be.
“Climate change and biodiversity loss are no different.
“In fact, they pose an even greater existential threat to the extent that we have

Prince Charles met Amazon founder Jeff Bezos who later posted on Instagram: “The Prince of Wales has been involved in fighting climate change and protecting our beautiful world for five decades – far longer than most.
“We had a chance to discuss these important issues on the eve of #COP26 – looking for solutions to heal our world, and how the BezosEarthFund can help.”
During his speech, Prince Charles added that, while he feels “positive” after devoting half a century to environmental causes, he believes immediate action is now crucial.

Prince William also made a strong statement for the world entrepreneurs urging them to focus on saving Earth rather than “trying to find the next place to go and live”.
Prince Charles has been in the spotlight more than ever in the Queen’s absence by giving powerful speeches and making the first official overseas visit to Jordan and Egypt since the pandemic.
