Just two months before his 100th birthday, the Duke of Edinburgh passed away peacefully at his home in Windsor Castle. Prince Philip’s funeral is set to take place on Saturday and will follow Covid restrictions.
In tribute to his father, a video was shared on Charles and Camilla’s official Twitter page showing Philip throughout his life.
Images featured in the short video show the Duke both on official duties as well as time spent with his children.
Posting the video on Twitter, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall wrote: “Over the course of his life, the Duke of Edinburgh was associated with 992 organisations in areas including technology, conservation, education and the welfare of young people.”
In one of the images, Philip is seen alongside his wife, the Queen, with a young Prince Charles and Princess Anne in Balmoral back in 1953.
Another picture shows the Duke preparing to leave London for a Commonwealth Tour in 1956 as a seven-year-old Charles points at something on the plane.
One of the more recent images was taken following the Trooping the Colour in 2010.
This picture shows the Queen sitting next to her husband with a beaming smile as they return to Buckingham Palace.
Another image is of the Queen in 1951 – who was Princess Elizabeth at the time – with Philip seated on the grass at Clarence House.
Following Philip’s death, a statement from Buckingham Palace read: “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.
“Further announcements will be made in due course.
“The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.”

Prince Charles paid tribute to his “dear Papa” and said: “My dear Papa was a very special person who I think above all else would have been amazed by the reaction and the touching things that have been said about him and from that point of view we are, my family, deeply grateful for all that.
“It will sustain us in this particular loss and at this particularly sad time.”
Prince Philip’s other children have all paid tribute to him following his sad passing.
Princess Anne added: “You know it’s going to happen but you are never really ready.
“My father has been my teacher, my supporter and my critic, but mostly it is his example of a life well-lived and service freely given that I most wanted to emulate.”
Prince Philip’s funeral will take place at 3pm on Saturday, April 17.
The ceremony will be held at St George’s Chapel, on the grounds of Windsor Castle, and will be televised.
Due to coronavirus restrictions, just 30 people will be allowed to attend, socially distanced.
The list of guests has not yet been announced, though it has been confirmed Prince Harry – who flew back to the UK – will attend.
A heavily pregnant Meghan Markle will not attend the funeral following doctor’s advice not to fly.
