Prince Charles was photographed arriving at Windsor Castle, a few hours before the beginning of his father’s funeral. The Prince of Wales appeared to be emotional as he was driven inside the Queen’s residence in Berkshire.
Prince Charles has been the first member of the Royal Family seen arriving at Windsor Castle to support his mother the Queen.
The heir to the throne wore a black face mask and a black jacket with a buttoned-up white shirt and black tie.
He was quickly followed by Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William, who arrived in another car.
Much like Prince Charles, they both donned black face masks and black outfits.
The Duchess also wore one of the Queen’s pearl necklaces.
There are 27 more members of the Royal Family and people close to the Duke of Edinburgh set to attend the funeral.
In line with the Government regulations, only 30 people will take part in the service at St George’s Chapel.
Among them, there will be the Queen, her four children and eight grandchildren.
The Queen and Prince Philip’s great-grandchildren won’t be in attendance – as well as pregnant Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, who has remained in the US following the advice of her doctor.
Before the funeral, at 2.45pm, a procession will start from Windsor Castle, which will bring Prince Philip’s coffin to the chapel.
In a break with royal tradition, the Queen won’t lead the procession but will follow it in a car.
Her firstborn Prince Charles will walk behind a special Range Rover designed with the help of Prince Philip, alongside with his sister Princess Anne.
Their younger brother Andrew and Edward will follow them.
Behind the Duke of York and Earl of Wessex there will be Prince William and Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillip.
The Duke of Sussex, who flew earlier this week from the US, will walk behind his brother.
