Prince Charles leaves audience in hysterics after ‘terrible bosh’ at Aston Martin factory

As an avid Aston Martin devotee, Prince Charles visited the car maker’s new £50 million factory at St Athan, near Barry, South Wales. The Prince of Wales arrived to the royal visit in style, driving his own vintage Aston Martin DB6. Prince Charles had the audience in hysterics after claiming he had made a “terrible bosh” when applying the ‘wings’ to an Aston Martin in the factory earlier in the day.

He told the audience: “I just want to congratulate you on what you’ve achieved so far.

“And to wish you every possible success in the years to come.

“I shall watch with great interest.

“In the meantime, having probably made a terrible bosh of that Aston Martin wings on the front of the car, I shall attempt to unveil this without causing a problem, and declare the factory open.”

The attendees of the launch broke out into laughter at the royal’s admission and applauded his unveiling.

The Prince of Wales was also presented with a commemorative drawing.

It was one of the original sketches from the DBX design team.

The DBX is Aston Martin’s new luxury SUV.

Charles test drove the car himself at the Lagonda plant.

During the visit, he also met with engineers from all states of the production processes.

The Prince was gifted an Aston Martin Volante convertible as a 21st birthday present from his mother, the Queen.

As a huge proponent of the environment, the royal made sure his car was converted to an alternative fuel source in 2008.

The Aston Martin is now powered by biodiesel made by a by-product of the cheese manufacturing process and wine unsuitable for human consumption.

In a documentary to mark his 70th birthday in 2018, he explained how the idea came about.

He said: “They discovered they could run it on surplus English white wine, but also I hadn’t realised that they had mixed whey into it too.

“The engineers at Aston said, ‘Oh, it’ll ruin the whole thing.’ I said, ‘Well I won’t drive it then’, so they got on with it and now they admit that it runs better and is more powerful on that fuel than it is on petrol.”
