Prince Charles “at times feels a bit jealous of [Prince William and Prince Harry’s] public profiles”, royal experts have claimed. The Prince of Wales’ envy was discussed as part of Channel 5 documentary, ‘Meghan & Harry: The New Revelations’. It analysed why the popularity of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, in particular, “became a problem”.
Vanity Fair royal editor Katie Nicholl told viewers: “I think one of the themes that is explored in Finding Freedom is the jealousies.
“Some members of the Royal Household and some courtiers were envious of the level of attention that the Sussexes were getting.
“There was a point when Charles and Camilla weren’t even getting a look-in.
“All the tabloids would run were stories about Meghan and Harry.”
She added: “That became a problem.”
Mail on Sunday royal editor Emily Andrews gave insight: “I think there’s definitely some truth in the fact that Charles has, at times, felt a bit jealous maybe of sons’ public profile.
“For a long time, William and Harry were getting really really positive publicity.
“Charles, of course, had had dreadful publicity.”

The documentary pointed to a statement Harry released in 2016, confirming his relationship with Meghan and urging the media to respect her privacy.
It was said to have caused tension in the Palace because it took attention away from Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
The couple had been on a diplomatic tour of the Middle East.

Daily Mirror royal editor Russell Myers told Channel 5: “Harry decided to write this statement himself and give the family only 20 minutes notice that he was putting it out.
“It was absolutely catastrophic.
“It torpedoed Prince Charles’ tour of the Middle East.
“It went down like an absolute lead balloon in the Palace.”
