On Wednesday, the Duke of Edinburgh turned 99-years-old, however, due to social distancing rules the Prince of Wales was unable to celebrate the occasion with his father. During the Royal Obsessed podcast, Rachel Bowie and Roberta Fiorito discussed the struggle Prince Charles will have faced this week.

Ms Bowie said: “Prince Charles opened up last week to Sky News about not seeing his father on his birthday, which is sad because they are all social distancing.

“He said while they have been doing Facetime it has been terribly sad and that he really wants to give people a hug.”

Ms Fiorito added: “

Ms Bowie replied: “Yes that has to be so tough, they probably haven’t seen each other for such a long time.”

Last month the Duchess of Cornwall was praised for the way she adapted during her marriage to Prince Charles.

During the Channel 5 documentary ‘Charles and Camilla: King and Queen in waiting’, royal experts Kate Nicholl and Angela Levin discussed the Duchess of Cornwall’s growth as a member of the Royal Family.

Ms Levin stated that Camilla had to learn to work very hard at the age of 60 in order to keep up with Prince Charles.

Ms Nicholl said: “Once she had married into the Royal Family she became Charles consort.

“She was there with him on royal engagements, she accompanied him on royal tours and actually Camilla proved to be incredibly popular.

“She did her own PR, she didn’t need a spin doctor, she did what she does best.

“She engages with people, she has a good relationship with the press.

“She doesn’t upstage the Prince of Wales in any way, they are a great team.”

Ms Levin added: “We have to remember that she didn’t have a job.

“She left school with one O-level and she didn’t have a career.

“She wasn’t a career woman and at the age of 60, she had to learn to work very hard.

“Prince Charles does about 500 engagements a day, he keeps going and works every day of the year including Christmas and Easter.”
