Even after her death, Princess Diana’s enduring popularity is still present all over the world. Prince Charles’s popularity across has fluctuated over the past 25 years. Recent YouGov polls showing he ranks as only the sixth most popular royal behind his own son Prince William, nieces Beatrice and Eugenie as well as his daughter-in-law Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge. Royal commentator Ingrid Seward claimed the reminder of Diana’s work continues to weigh on the Prince of Wales decades after her untimely death.
Appearing on Nigel Farage’s Talking Pints on GB News, Ms Seward said: “I think he’s had a very difficult time.”
“He’s constantly overshadowed by the ghost of Diana, and I think Diana would hate that.”
“She said to me that she still had a great fountain of love for Prince Charles, despite everything.”
“She would hate the way that she is being perceived as this person that is stalking him.”

In the years before her death, Princess Diana’s separation with Prince Charles had turned hostile.
In 1994, Prince Charles took part in an unprecedented interview, in which he admitted to committing adultery during his marriage to Princess Diana.
During the interview, Prince Charles was questioned by journalist Jonathan Dimbleby about his marriage.
During the documentary, Charles was asked if he had tried to be “faithful and honourable” to Diana.

He replied: “Yes, absolutely,” but after further questioning by Dimbleby, who says, “And you were?” Charles adds: “Yes… Until it became irretrievably broken down, us both having tried.”
The following year, Diana hit back. In a BBC documentary broadcast by Panorama in 1995, Diana was interviewed by Martin Bashir.
The sit-down interview was a huge scoop for the BBC, as the world had never before seen a serving royal speak in such candid terms about life in the Royal Family.
She claimed: “There were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded,” adding that she had been with “with a husband who loved someone else.”

Diana also opened up about her mental health and her “rampant bulimia”, which she described as “a symptom of what was going on in my marriage.”
The interview sent shockwaves through the British public, it dominated headlines for weeks.
Prince Charles’ popularity took a hit, with it falling even lower after the death of Diana in 1997.
The future King is the 6th most popular royal according to a YouGov survey, just one spot before Meghan the Duchess of Sussex.
